Android

We support all Android devices with the following features and hardware:

  • Bluetooth 4.0 or higher
  • API 23
  • Midi over Bluetooth
  • Pro Audio
  • Low Latency Audio

We have tested the top-of-the-line Huawei and Honor devices and have experienced a significant amount of latency. As a result, we do not recommend Freedrum for Huawei users.

macOS

We support all Mac computers released in 2012 or later.

Windows

We support both Windows 10 and Windows 11. When you use Windows 10, make sure you've installed the October 2018 Windows update.

If you want to connect your device via Bluetooth, just make sure your computer has Bluetooth capabilities.

Latency

It is one thing that your device is compatible, but it is another if it has latency. What is Latency? Latency is the delay before a transfer of data follows an instruction for its transfer. To put it simply, it is the time it takes for you to hit a drum or cymbal with your sensor and the sound to travel out of your device's speakers. While Apple has championed the world of MIDI and Bluetooth over MIDI, Android struggles with latency. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of your device and not something we can fix through our app.

If you're having trouble with latency while using your e-kit, try connecting it with a cable instead of Bluetooth for a smoother experience.
