How to connect Freedrum with Cubase
What is Cubase?
Cubase is a music production software that allows you to create music your way and can bring your production to a professional level. This guide will walk you through the basics of how to setup Freedrum with Cubase on macOS.
Many music producers and composers use it, including Ludwig Göransson and Hans Zimmer, who have composed the music soundtracks for movies such as Disney’s The Mandalorian and The Lion King.
Windows
If you’re using Windows you need to set up your sensors first before using them on Cubase. Click here to learn more.
MacOS
The same applies to MacOS users. The first step is to search for “Audio MIDI Setup”. Using the drop-down menu on the upper left, click on “Window” then select “Show MIDI Studio”. When a new window appears, click on the Bluetooth icon to bring up the Bluetooth Configuration window. Simply turn your sensors on and connect them.
Freedrum with Cubase
Once they are connected, you can open up Cubase. The easiest way to find out if your Cubase sensors are connected is to select "Studio" from the upper drop-down menu and click "Studio Setup". A new window will come up and there you will click "MIDI Port Setup", which is on the left-hand menu. On the right, a list of connected sensors will show up.
To check if your sensors work, look at the lower right corner of the screen and move the sticks as if you’re hitting drums.
You’re now ready to use Freedrum with Cubase!
