Hey everyone!

We got a new update with news about the hardware and software.

Shipping status

We’ve shipped 630 kits last week.

Freedrum Studio App

We’ve changed the Firmware versioning, if you see 32-1-18-1 that's equivalent to 32-1-123 in the old versioning system.
Last week we released 1.3.9, in this version of the app the user can now change the volume of the drumset or mute it. You can find this feature under the “More” tab - > Volume Settings.
SERVER UPDATE:
  • On some kits, the Firmware update process stopped at 49%: We implemented a fix last week but apparently some kits still have the issue, please those who still experience it contact us so we can investigate.
WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON?
  • Firmware updates:
    Firmware update won’t start on Android 13: On Android 13 there is a bug that affects the limit on the MIDI packages length and our OTA protocol uses that. It is a known issue in the Android dev community and it has been fixed for February Android Preview, which is only available for Pixel devices. We have an internal build where we got it to work and we plan to release it within a week or so. In the meantime, those who have Android 12 please wait for the upgrade to Android 13. This problem is likely to be the same that affects those kits that do not show battery information and the Firmware version appears as: “null-null-null”.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN THE NEXT APP UPDATE?

Hardware updates

This week we have a new Firmware version 32-1-1a-1, the previous one was 32-1-18-1 (32-1-123).
It should be available to update from next week. This update includes:
  • Fixed the issue with Bluetooth Windows connectivity. We’ve tested it in Windows 10 and Windows 11, let us know please if it doesn’t work for you.
The hardware team is supporting both the app and production teams.
WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON?
  • Firmware updates problem together with the App team.
  • Muted hits bug: When you play two notes simultaneously one gets muted.
  • Upstrokes bug: If the stick goes beyond 90 degrees vertically unwanted hits occur.
BACKLOG
  • Hi-Hat & double bass control.
  • External DAW usage: Once connected to a DAW, i.e., GarageBand, the sound stops. Issue investigation is still ongoing.
  • Power saving mode.
